This workshop with Tracey Slaughter connects writers to the tap-root of physical place, looking at how crucial it is to have a sensory ‘base of operations’ in the short story form. Discussions and exercises will focus writers on fully inhabiting landscape in their writing, concentrating on the sensing body who travels the story-territory. The goal is to achieve grounded, dynamic writing that takes the reader by the senses, meshing them into the story through an evocative engagement with place.
